This is practical under electrical appliances, when soldering and at charging stations. A metal plate would be fireproof, but it conducts electricity. Here you can read which FireMat editions are non-conductive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why doesn&#8217;t the FireMat conduct electricity?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fibres of the FireMat are made of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Aramid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">aramid<\/a> and Panox. Both are synthetic fibres without metal. They therefore hardly conduct electricity. They also do not continue to burn when a flame hits them. <a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/TUEV-Bescheinigung_bis_2027.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Certified by T\u00dcV S\u00dcD according to DIN EN ISO 11925-2<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which editions are non-conductive?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/firemat.de\/en\/produkt\/firemat-black-edition-fireproof-mat-for-electrical-appliances-according-to-din-en-iso-11925-2\/\">Black Edition<\/a>: pure fabric made of aramid and Panox<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/firemat.de\/en\/produkt\/firemat-silk-edition-fire-resistant-mat-for-electrical-appliances-non-slip-coated\/\">Silk Edition<\/a>: aramid with a non-slip silicone layer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/firemat.de\/en\/produkt\/firemat-greensilk-edition-fireproof-mat-for-electrical-appliances-non-slip-coated\/\">GreenSilk Edition<\/a>: the green variant with silicone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/firemat.de\/en\/produkt\/firemat-silk-a-edition-fireproof-mat-for-electrical-appliances-water-and-oil-repellent-non-slip\/\">Silk-A Edition<\/a>, on the other hand, is an exception. It has an aluminium layer on top. Aluminium conducts electricity. Such mats must meet their own standard. For live working you therefore need special insulating mats. The FireMat, by contrast, protects against heat and fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Does a wet mat conduct electricity?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Water can conduct electricity, even on a mat. Wipe up spilled liquid immediately.
