However, leather absorbs water.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rubber or nitrile:<\/strong> impermeable to liquids and cleaning agents, but they melt in heat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cut protection made of high-tech fibre:<\/strong> protects against blades, sheet metal and glass while staying flexible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Aluminised gloves:<\/strong> reflect radiant heat, for example at a wood stove.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to look for when buying<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The right standard<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Protective gloves are standardised in Europe. EN 388 describes protection against cuts and abrasion, EN 407 covers protection against heat and fire, and EN 374 applies to chemicals. A pictogram with numbers on the glove shows how well it protects. If it is too large, your grip is unsafe; if it is too small, your hands tire quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wearing comfort<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During long jobs, how the glove feels also matters. Choose a breathable material so that you sweat less and actually wear the gloves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Care and replacement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Check your gloves for holes and thin spots before every use, and replace damaged gloves immediately.
