An <strong>operationally safe coffee machine<\/strong> must comply with the requirements of the <strong>Industrial Safety Ordinance<\/strong> (BetrSichV). This ordinance requires that all work equipment, including coffee machines, be tested for safety.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to \u00a7 14 of the <strong>Industrial Safety Ordinance<\/strong>, employers must inspect work equipment before initial commissioning. \u00a7 15 also stipulates that regular inspections are required. An <strong>approved monitoring service<\/strong> or a \u201ccompetent person\u201d must carry out these inspections. According to \u00a7 3 Para. 3 BetrSichV, the employer decides how often and to what extent these inspections are carried out and who performs them. The decision is based on the results of the <strong>risk assessment<\/strong> according to the <strong>Occupational Safety and Health Act (ArbSchG)<\/strong>, manufacturer information, and intended operating conditions.     <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-private-kaffeemaschinen-im-buro-sicherheit-auch-hier-gefragt\"><strong>Private Coffee Machines in the Office: Safety Required Here Too<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even private coffee machines that employees bring into the office must be safety-tested. Although they are not considered work equipment within the meaning of the BetrSichV, the employer&#8217;s <strong>risk assessment<\/strong> still takes them into account. These machines must also not pose a danger to employee safety. The employer must regularly ensure that these devices do not cause any hazards.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The employer is therefore responsible for checking the <strong>operational safety<\/strong> of private coffee machines as well. To ensure this, they must implement regular safety inspections carried out by qualified specialists. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-haftung-des-arbeitgebers-und-empfehlungen-der-versicherer\"><strong>Employer Liability and Insurer Recommendations<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The employer is responsible for the safety of <strong>coffee machines in the workplace<\/strong>. Even if employees bring their own devices, the employer must ensure that they comply with the <strong>Industrial Safety Ordinance<\/strong> and do not pose a hazard to employees. Various regulations, such as <strong>BGV A 3<\/strong>, require regular inspections for all electrical devices in the workplace.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the <strong>German Insurance Association (GDV)<\/strong>, employers should prohibit private coffee machines and other electrical devices in the workplace.
