In that case, a direction arrow shows the way to it. This fire safety sign with an up / down arrow is such a supplementary sign. It has a white arrow on a red background and is always used together with a fire safety sign. Under the old German regulation BGV A8 it was called “F02”.

Product details

Supplementary sign: direction arrow up / down

For fire safety signs, white on red

Material: PVC

Photoluminescent

Weather- and UV-resistant

Sizes: 150 × 150 mm or 200 × 200 mm

Where does the sign go?

The up / down direction arrow goes directly next to or below a fire safety sign. Depending on how it is mounted, the arrow points up or down. In a stairwell, for example, it shows the way to the fire extinguisher on the next floor. For routes to the left or right, there is also the sign with a sideways arrow.

Is the marking mandatory?

In German workplaces, yes. The technical rule ASR A1.3 sets out how safety signs look and where they go. In addition, ASR A2.2 requires fire-fighting equipment to be clearly marked. That is why every location needs the right fire safety sign. Our article Safety signs and their meaning explains what the signs mean.

Which size is right?

The size depends on the distance from which the sign should be recognised. According to ASR A1.3, a 150 × 150 mm sign can be seen from up to 15 m. With 200 × 200 mm it is up to 20 m. The smaller size is therefore usually enough for offices and corridors. In halls, choose the larger one.

Why photoluminescent?

The film stores light from its surroundings. If the power fails, the sign continues to glow greenish for a while. This keeps it easy to see even in the dark. The film complies with DIN 67510-1, the standard for photoluminescent safety signs.

Installation

Fix the sign with screws or strong mounting tape. The surface should be clean and even. Place it so that furniture or open doors do not cover it.

Matching signs

You can find more signs in our categories fire safety signs and flag and angle signs.
