A fireproof work mat protects tables, workbenches and worktops from heat and sparks. It makes sense wherever hot appliances stand or hot parts are put down. The FireMat does not keep burning and does not melt, which makes it a simple precaution at home and in the workshop.
Typical uses for a fireproof work mat
At home
- Fondue, raclette and chafing dish on the dining table
- Briefly putting down the iron
- Hair straightener and curling iron in the bathroom
- Air fryer and toaster on the worktop
In the workshop and hobby room
- Heat gun and heat-shrink tubing
- Soldering station and hot glue gun
- 3D printer with a hot print bed
- Tool batteries while charging
What the FireMat can withstand
The mat is made of aramid fibres. It is heat-resistant up to about 300 °C. If it gets even hotter, the surface chars, but it does not catch fire. In addition: certified by TÜV SÜD according to DIN EN ISO 11925-2.
Size and care
The FireMat is available in many sizes. Choose a mat that extends a few centimetres beyond the appliance on all sides. Wash off dirt in the machine at 60 °C. For wet areas and outdoors, the Gold Edition is the better choice, as it is coated on both sides.
What to look out for
- Lay the mat flat and without creases.
- Always place hot appliances in the middle of it.
- Check the mat for damage from time to time.
- Replace a heavily charred mat.
Hot fat often splashes during fondue. On the mat, the table still stays clean. With raclette, you also catch cheese and fat before they leave stains.
Fireproof work mats in businesses
Workshops and laboratories often have hot plates, soldering stations and battery chargers. A fireproof work mat under these devices significantly reduces the fire risk, and you can quickly move it to another place when the work changes. For bulk orders, use our page for companies and authorities.
