Fireproof sewing thread made of aramid – 4000 metres
We also use this fireproof sewing thread to sew our FireMat Black Edition. The thread is made of 100% Twaron Black, an aramid fibre that withstands heat and flames well. As a result, the thread does not melt and does not continue to burn when hit by a flame. It comes on a spool with 4000 metres.

What is fireproof sewing thread suitable for?
Wherever normal thread gets too hot, aramid thread is the better choice. A polyester seam melts in great heat, whereas an aramid seam holds. Typical applications include:
- Barbecue gloves and oven gloves
- Heat-resistant aprons
- Protective clothing and welding clothing
- Fireproof mats and covers
Why para-aramid?
Para-aramid is a synthetic fibre with special properties. It is very tear-resistant and heat-resistant at the same time. Instead of melting, it only chars at very high temperatures. That is why aramid is also used for firefighter clothing and protective gloves – and that is exactly why we sew our mats with it.
Processing tips
The thread is very tear-resistant. Therefore use a sharp needle and cut it with good scissors. Store it in a dry place. This keeps the fireproof sewing thread usable for a long time.
