What is a self-contained emergency luminaire?
A self-contained luminaire has its own built-in battery. In normal operation, it runs on mains power and charges the battery. If the power fails, it switches to battery at once. It therefore does not need a central battery system. This makes planning simple, especially in smaller buildings.
Where does the L-LUX escape sign luminaire fit?
With a viewing distance of 27 m, the L-LUX escape sign luminaire is also suitable for long corridors and larger rooms. It is mounted on the ceiling, for example above emergency exits or at intersections of escape routes. Protection rating IP 40 is intended for dry indoor areas.
Testing and maintenance
Thanks to the self-test, the luminaire checks the battery and LED on its own. It indicates a fault directly. According to DIN EN 50172, emergency luminaires are tested regularly: briefly every month and once a year for the full emergency lighting duration. Also record the results in a logbook.
Installation
The luminaire is permanently connected to 230 V. It should therefore be installed by a qualified electrician. It is fixed to the ceiling. Then insert the appropriate pictogram, for example “emergency exit” or an arrow pointing left or right.
