In businesses or institutions, the first aid kit in the office is the most important first aid resource. This item should always be kept in good condition so that a first responder can act immediately in an emergency.
First Aid Kit in the Office: Contents
There are 2 different sizes available here: the small company first aid kit according to DIN 13157 and the large company first aid kit according to DIN 13169. In smaller businesses, the company first aid kit according to DIN 13157 is often used. The differences lie in the quantity of materials. After any use, the first aid kits should be immediately restocked.
Regarding Regulations
First Aid Kit Contents
According to § 25 para. 2 DGUV Regulation 1, every company must provide sufficient first aid materials. First aid supplies are absolutely essential to ensure effective and rapid assistance in the event of injuries, thereby preventing permanent damage.
When Should Materials Be Replaced?
These first aid kits also contain sterile materials, such as compresses or bandage packs. These materials have an expiration date, after which there is no longer a guarantee that they are still sterile or free from bacterial contamination. Therefore, it is important that these materials are regularly replaced before their expiration date.
The location within the business or offices plays an important role for first aid and initial care. The faster materials are available to a first responder, the better they can respond to the current emergency situation.
Therefore, first aid kits should generally be accessible to every employee. Additionally, a list of first responders should be posted at the respective location so that every employee can immediately contact these individuals. If a telephone is available at or near the location, communication will be accelerated.
