Emergency exit sign left up (E001) – photoluminescent
This escape route sign shows the way to the nearest emergency exit. It combines the symbol E001 according to DIN EN ISO 7010 with an arrow pointing diagonally up to the left. This helps people get out quickly in an emergency. The “emergency exit left up” sign is made of robust PVC and is self-adhesive. It also glows when the lights go out.

Where does the “emergency exit left up” sign go?
The arrow points diagonally up to the left. So it leads on ahead to the left or up a staircase on the left, for example out of an underground car park. The sign is therefore often placed at junctions and in basements.
A continuous chain is important: from every point, you should be able to see the next escape route sign. So mount it where it is clearly visible, but not directly below the ceiling. That is where smoke collects first in a fire.
Is the marking mandatory?
In German workplaces, yes. The technical rule ASR A1.3 sets out how safety signs look and where they go. In addition, ASR A2.3 requires escape routes and emergency exits to be clearly marked. That is why offices, schools, day-care centres and public authorities need the right escape route signs. Read more in our guide Escape route signs.
Which size is right?
The size depends on the distance from which the sign should be recognised. According to ASR A1.3, a height of 150 mm means up to 15 m. With a height of 200 mm, the sign can be recognised from up to 20 m. 300 × 150 mm is therefore usually enough for offices and normal corridors. In halls and long passageways, choose 400 × 200 mm.
Why photoluminescent?
The film stores light from its surroundings. If the power fails, the sign continues to glow greenish for a while. This keeps it easy to see even in the dark. The film complies with DIN 67510-1, the standard for photoluminescent safety signs.
Installation
The back is self-adhesive. Clean the surface thoroughly beforehand. It should be smooth, dry and free of dust and grease. Then peel off the protective film and press the sign firmly into place. On rough walls, however, it holds better with screws or mounting tape.
