Emergency Exit Sign Down Left (E001) – Photoluminescent
This safe condition sign shows the way to the nearest emergency exit. It combines the symbol E001 according to DIN EN ISO 7010 with an arrow pointing diagonally down to the left. This helps people find their way out quickly in an emergency. The “Emergency Exit Down Left” sign is made of robust PVC and is self-adhesive. It also glows in the dark if the lights fail.

Where should the “Emergency Exit Down Left” sign be placed?
The arrow points diagonally down to the left. This means the escape route leads down a staircase on the left. The sign is therefore often placed on landings or at the end of a corridor when the stairs are on the left.
A continuous chain of signs is important: from every point, the next safe condition sign should be visible. Mount the sign clearly visible, but not directly below the ceiling – that is where smoke collects first in a fire.
Is marking mandatory?
In workplaces, yes. In Germany, the technical rule ASR A1.3 specifies how safety signs must look and where they are placed, and ASR A2.3 requires escape routes and emergency exits to be clearly marked. In other EU countries, national rules based on Directive 92/58/EEC apply. The ISO 7010 symbols are understood throughout Europe. Offices, schools, nurseries and public authorities therefore need suitable emergency signs. You can find more information in our guide to emergency signs.
Which size is right?
The size depends on the distance from which the sign needs to be recognised. According to ASR A1.3, a height of 150 mm is sufficient for up to 15 m and a height of 200 mm for up to 20 m. For offices and normal corridors, 300 × 150 mm is usually enough. In halls and long corridors, choose 400 × 200 mm.
Why photoluminescent?
The film stores light from its surroundings. If the power fails, the sign continues to glow greenish for some time, so it remains clearly visible in the dark. The film complies with DIN 67510-1, the standard for photoluminescent safety signs.
Installation
The back is self-adhesive. Clean the surface thoroughly first – it should be smooth, dry and free of dust and grease. Then peel off the protective film and press the sign firmly into place. On rough walls, screws or mounting tape hold better.
