What fits in the fireproof document bag?
The bag is suitable for everything that is hard to replace – for example passports, birth certificates, contracts, certificates, cash and bank cards. Small storage media such as USB sticks also fit inside. Choose the size according to how many documents you want to keep safe.
The zip
The zip is made of nylon. In strong, direct heat it can melt after about one to two minutes, while the fabric itself lasts considerably longer. It is therefore best to keep the bag in a cupboard or safe. This gives it additional protection from direct flames.
What a fireproof bag can do – and what it cannot
A fireproof bag protects its contents from flames, sparks and heat for a while. In a long, fully developed fire it can still get very hot inside. Paper starts to discolour at around 200 °C, and electronics are even more sensitive. The bag buys you time, but it is not a safe. Therefore, also keep copies of important documents in another place.
