FireMat editions at a glance: which one suits you?

The FireMat comparison shows you at a glance which edition suits you. Each mat has its own strengths. Some are suitable for the induction hob, others for wet areas or outdoor use. All editions are also tested: Certified by TÜV SÜD according to DIN EN ISO 11925-2.

The editions in the FireMat comparison

Black Edition

The Black Edition is the classic made of aramid and Panox. It is suitable for electrical appliances and for the induction hob. You can also wash it at 60 °C in the washing machine. However, you should not cut it to size.

Silk Edition

The Silk Edition has a non-slip coating. It also fits under electrical appliances and on the induction hob. With the shiny side up, the pot stays in place. With it facing down, the mat holds firmly on the hob. It can also be cut to size.

Silk-A Edition

The Silk-A Edition has a layer of aluminium on top. Coffee, water and oil simply run off. It is ideal under the coffee machine and as a splash guard on the wall. It is not intended for the induction hob, as it turns brown there.

GreenSilk Edition

The GreenSilk Edition is the green version with silicone. It works well as a mat for electrical appliances and can be cut to size. On the induction hob, the green side can turn brownish over time. That is why we recommend Black or Silk there.

Gold Edition

The Gold Edition is our most robust mat. It is coated on both sides, very non-slip and extremely tear-resistant. It also repels water and oil and can be cut to size. That makes it suitable for electrical appliances, wet areas, camping and in front of the fireplace.

Which edition for which purpose?

• Induction hob: Black or Silk
• Coffee machine and kettle in the office: Black, Silk or GreenSilk
• Next to the sink: Silk-A
• Outdoors, camping and wet areas: Gold
• In front of the fireplace: Gold
• Wall behind the hob or sink: Silk-A or Gold

What are the mats made of?

All editions are based on aramid fibres. These fibres do not keep burning and do not melt. The silicone or aluminium coatings then provide grip or protection against moisture. Read more in the articles Polysiloxane coating and Aluminium high-vacuum coating.
