The fibers of our FireMat are characterized by very high strength, high impact resistance, high elongation at break, good vibration damping, and resistance to acids and alkalis. Furthermore, they are highly heat and fire resistant. Aramid fibers do not melt at high temperatures; instead, they begin to carbonize at approximately 400 °C.

Aramid fibers are a high-tech material and are used today particularly in the field of fire protection. They are used in fire-resistant clothing; protective suits for fire departments, as well as racing suits or flight suits, are examples.

The most common application for aramid fibers is found in the security sector, for example, in the manufacture of bulletproof vests and vehicle armor.

Due to their tear and tensile strength and low weight, aramid fibers are also often used in sports equipment, such as for suspension lines on paragliders, sails for sailboats and surfboards, hockey sticks, or strings for tennis rackets.

Furthermore, they are used in fiber-reinforced plastics in aircraft construction, especially for the construction of gliders.
